Dr Souness provides anaesthesia services across a wide range of adult specialties with a particular interest in enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) practices and regional anaesthesia and their application to orthopaedic, bariatric, plastics, colorectal, urological and gynaecological surgery.

Professional Experience
Dr Souness completed a Bachelor of Medical Science from the University of Sydney in 2005 followed by a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in 2009 from the University of Queensland. This was later followed by a Graduate Certificate in Clinical Ultrasound by the University of Melbourne in 2018.

Andrew completed his anaesthetic training between 2015 and 2019 at various hospitals in Queensland, culminating in a fellowship in regional anaesthesia and major gastrointestinal surgery at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in 2019.

After working as a specialist anaesthetist at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Andrew commenced work at the new STARS Hospital, where he is the current anaesthetic lead for both regional anaesthesia and the fast-track knee and hip arthroplasty service.

Andrew works in private practice at the major private hospitals in Brisbane where he works with his regular surgeons across specialties such as ophthalmology, bariatric surgery and plastic surgery.
