Areas of Specialisation
Dr Carter is highly specialised in cardiothoracic anaesthesia, and also provides anaesthetic services for the majority of adult operations.

Professional Experience
Dr Carter completed undergraduate degrees in arts and science at University of Queensland before gaining his Bachelors of Medicine and Surgery in 2007 at the same institution.

He undertook his medical training at Princess Alexandra Hospital and Greenslopes Private Hospital, then commenced training in anaesthesia in 2013 across various hospitals in southeast Queensland. Dr Carter undertook his fellowship in general anaesthesia & anaesthetic allergy at Princess Alexandra Hospital in 2018.

He followed this with a specialist fellowship year in cardiothoracic anaesthesia in Queensland’s quaternary cardiac centre The Prince Charles Hospital.

Jacob has recently returned to Brisbane after two years working at Townsville University Hospital and in private practice at Mater Hospital North Queensland specialising in cardiothoracic anaesthesia. He is currently building his private practice in Brisbane.

Other Interests
Outside of work Jacob enjoys spending time with his family. He has a great interest in wildlife photography and loves travelling.
