Professional Biography

Dr Mark Lai was schooled in Brisbane Boys’ College and attended medical school at the University of Queensland. He qualified as a Specialist Anaesthetist in 2000, training in both Cairns and Brisbane, after-which he undertook subspecialty fellowships in cardiac anaesthesia and neuroanaesthesia at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. Dr Lai returned to Brisbane, working as a staff specialist at the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital for five years.

He now works as a VMO neuroanaesthetist at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and attends the majority of Brisbane’s private hospitals. Until recently, Dr Lai practiced cardiac anaesthesia at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Dr Mark Lai has served over a decade as a Fellowship Examiner in the Australian & New Zealand College of Anaesthetists and continues to lecture at courses, whilst participating in ongoing education. He is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland medical school.
